This is my 21st year teaching second grade for Omaha Public Schools and I love it as much as I did the very first day I walked into my first classroom. I graduated from U.N.O. with my undergrad degree in Elementary Education, earned my E.S.L endorsement from Peru State College, and completed my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Peru State College.

I have two sons, Jay, 27, and Oliver, 24. I am so incredibly proud of them both! What makes me the happiest is that both of my sons have grown to value education as much as I do. My son, Jay, graduated from U.N.L with a degree in Criminal Justice. He attended Law School at Georgetown Law Center in Washington D.C. and earned his Juris Doctor in May, 2015. Jay studied for the New York Bar Exam for several months and just recently found out that he passed the bar! He is now an  Assistant District Attorney in Brooklyn, NY and loves his new job! My younger son, Oliver earned his undergrad degree from U.N.O in May of 2014 in both Political Science and History. He completed his Master's Degree at U.N.O. in Political Science and Government in August of 2015. Oliver would like to become a policy analyst.

I have been a single parent since my sons were 3 and 5 years old respectively. It was often hectic and I didn't have much free time for a very long time. But, I truly believe that as long as a child has one person in their corner, supporting them and believing in them, they can not only succeed in life, but they can and will thrive! This is the same philosophy I bring to my classroom. We all face struggles in life, whether it's facing financial difficulties as a family, living in a single parent family, or learning English as a second language, my students consistently come to me filled with hope and an eagerness to learn. My job is to help them understand that through hard work and perseverance, with education, anything is truly possible!
