Hi-   I am Margaret Franks and I am excited to be part of the fifth grade team at Gateway.   I am a native of South Dakota and graduated from Northern State University with my BS in Elementary Education and received my Masters Degree from Leslie College.  I taught for five years in South Dakota before moving to Omaha. I started my teaching career with OPS in 1991.  I have taught at Robbins Elementary, Ashland Park-Robbins Elementary, and currently at Gateway Elementary.

NeSA testing is just around the corner.  The students have been doing their best to be prepared for the three areas: Reading, Science, and Math that we will be tested in.  Here are some tips that you can do at home with your child to prepare for the test.

Tip #1: Make sure your child gets a good night's sleep before a test, and make sure your child eats a good     breakfast the day of the test.

Tip #2: Make sure your child has taken any needed medication.

Tip #3: Ensure that your child is present during testing. Children generally perform better when taking tests in their groups rather than at a make-up time.

Tip #4: Get your child to school on time the day of the test.

Tip #5: Wish your child good luck each morning of the test! Tell them that you believe in them!

Tip #6: Remind your child the test is important. Encourage them to do their best.

Tip #7: Tell your child to attempt to answer all of the questions and not to leave any blank.

Tip #8: Encourage your child to stay focused on the test, even if other students finish early.

Thanks for your support and effort to have our students do their best.
